Crochet Class

Wednesday, February 21, 2024

This is a place for those who are brand new to the craft as well as those who have been crocheting for longer than they can remember! Work on the projects that are given or bring your own and work in a group setting. This is a free class, but participants are required to bring their own supplies. Please check the discussion section for practice supplies for the Jan. 3 class. Questions? Call (636-937-4694) or email Barb (

You will need a crochet hook and yarn.  A tapestry needle and scissors are needed as projects are completed, but not necessary for the first night.  Something to carry your supplies in is nice also, but not necessary for the first night!  All supplies can be found at Wal-Mart, JoAnn's , Hobby Lobby, Michael's, etc.

Crochet Hooks - Boye hooks are my favorite, but not the only brand out there. Most of the projects will use a size G, H, or I, but sometimes it's a little easier to learn with a size J or K.

Yarn - Do yourself a huge favor and DO NOT get a dark color.  Doesn't have to be white, but the lighter the better because it's easier to see your stitches.  Also, just get a plain yarn, nothing that's variegated, self-striping, has a metallic thread, etc, just a plain solid color.  On the yarn label pictured, you will find a "4" which tells you the yarn's weight.  That's the number you should look for when buying this practice yarn.  All yarn labels regardless of brand will have a weight number on them.

There will be lots of handouts the first night and anytime a new pattern is handed out.  I keep all of mine in a 3 ring binder inside page protectors, but that doesn't work for everyone.  A folder and pen/pencil are handy to have
